Terms of Service

In effect from 17 July 2026 · Last updated 17 July 2026

These terms of service apply to the use of the Ritu app and the related services. By using the service, you accept these terms. Please read them carefully. If you do not accept the terms, do not use the service.

1. Service provider

The Ritu app (the “Service”) is provided by Tuittupaa Productions Oy, business ID 3640226-3, registered office in Helsinki, Finland (the “Service Provider”, “we”).

For any questions concerning the service, you can contact us by email: tuulia.virhia@gmail.com.

2. Description of the service

Ritu is a progressive web app (PWA) intended to support memory. It clearly displays the time of day, the date, past and upcoming events, and family members’ details and photos. The service is designed especially for use by a person with a memory illness (the “Loved One”), and its content is managed by their family or relatives.

Ritu is not a medical device and not a healthcare service. It does not provide medical advice and does not replace care, supervision, or professional assessment. The service is not intended for emergencies. In an emergency, call 112.

3. Accounts and roles

The service has different roles:

  • Admin (a relative or a person caring for the Loved One): sets up the family with an email address (a sign-in link) and manages the family’s information. The Admin is responsible for the family’s content and access rights.
  • Family member: joins the family using an invitation code shared by the Admin.
  • Loved One: the person whose daily life the app supports. The device is unlocked each day with a 4-digit family PIN code.

The Admin is responsible for ensuring that invitation codes, PIN codes, and sign-in details remain confidential and are shared only with trusted persons. Notify us without delay if you suspect that an account or code has fallen into the wrong hands.

4. User responsibilities

You undertake that:

  • the information you enter is appropriate and you have the right to add it;
  • you obtain the necessary consent from the persons whose data or photographs you add to the service (or from their representative), especially when it concerns health-related information;
  • you use the service in the Loved One’s interest and in compliance with legislation;
  • you do not upload illegal, offensive, or rights-infringing content.

You are responsible for all activity that takes place through your account.

5. Permitted and prohibited use

The service is intended for the family’s personal, non-commercial use. The following are prohibited in particular:

  • circumventing the service’s security or gaining unauthorized access to other families’ data;
  • disrupting, overloading, or automatically scraping the service;
  • copying, selling, or redistributing the service or parts of it without permission;
  • using the service for an unlawful purpose.

6. Payments and subscriptions

A free version of the service is available, as well as a paid subscription (“Ritu Family”). Use of the free version may be limited, for example in terms of the number of family members or photographs. The prices and limitations in effect at any given time are announced within the service.

The paid subscription is valid until further notice and is billed at the intervals of the chosen period until it is cancelled. You can cancel the subscription at any time, in which case it ends at the end of the current billing period. A consumer’s statutory right of withdrawal is taken into account in accordance with applicable legislation.

The paid features and the payment intermediary’s terms will be specified before the paid service is taken into use.

7. Intellectual property rights

The service, its software, visual design, trademarks, and other content are the property of the Service Provider or its licensors. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, and personal right to use the service in accordance with these terms.

You retain the rights to the content you add to the service (such as photographs and texts). You grant us a limited right to store and process this content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.

8. Data protection

We process personal data in accordance with applicable data protection legislation (the EU General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR). The family’s data is stored on servers located in the EU area. The processing of personal data, where the Service Provider acts as a processor, is described in more detail in the data processing agreement (DPA).

9. Availability and changes

We strive to keep the service continuously available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. The service may be temporarily out of use due to maintenance, updates, or disruptions. We may develop, change, or discontinue the service or its features. We aim to give notice of material changes within a reasonable time.

10. Limitation of liability

The service is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. We are not liable for damages arising from interruptions in the service, from loss of data due to the user’s own actions, or from use of the service as a medical or safety-critical instrument. Nothing in these terms limits the rights afforded to a consumer under mandatory legislation.

11. Termination of the agreement

You can stop using the service at any time by leaving the family and discontinuing use of the account. We may restrict or terminate the right of use if these terms are materially breached. After termination, personal data is deleted or returned in accordance with the data processing agreement.

12. Applicable law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Finland, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will primarily be resolved through negotiation. As a consumer, you can refer the matter to the Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariita.fi) for handling. You can also contact consumer advisory services.

13. Changes to the terms

We may update these terms, for example due to changes in legislation or the development of the service. The up-to-date version is published on this page, and material changes are announced within the service or by email. By continuing to use the service after the changes, you accept the updated terms.
